Mentorship session in Nima tackles menstrual hygiene and faith-based education for girls
The Muslimah Mentorship Network (MMN) has held a mentorship session at Adab Preparatory School in Nima, focusing on education, menstrual hygiene, and personal health for adolescent girls.
The session, which took place on Thursday, July 31, 2025, formed part of MMN’s monthly outreach activities designed to support young Muslim girls across various communities.
Miss Maryam Yakubu, who served as moderator, opened the session by introducing the objectives of the mentorship initiative.
She explained that the network supports the educational, religious, and personal development of Muslim girls, while also offering mentors an opportunity to give back to their communities.
Miss Rahma Kabore led a session on education, speaking from an Islamic perspective. She encouraged the girls to take their studies seriously, noting that seeking knowledge aligns with Islamic values and contributes to both personal and social advancement.
Menstrual health was addressed by Miss Mariam Tahir Ayuba. She explained the biological process in simple terms and urged the girls to treat it as a normal part of life.
Her session included guidance on Islamic teachings related to cleanliness during menstruation and created space for open questions.
Miss Rahma Saeed conducted a session on hygiene, covering daily habits such as oral care, facial washing, environmental cleanliness, and general health.
She reminded the girls that personal hygiene is not only important for physical well-being but also a valued practice in Islam.
The sessions included practical demonstrations and interactive discussions that kept students actively engaged. The school’s staff and pupils responded positively to the event, describing the programme as timely and helpful.
The Muslimah Mentorship Network is a group of professional Muslim women who volunteer their time to mentor young people across Ghana.
