The post, a 40-foot metal container, has been divided into an office space, a restroom and a store room with lighting.

Mr Moussawi said the police post was a joint enterprise between him and his brother, Ali El Mousaoui. He said they were encouraged to build the police post  to help the police fight crime and maintain peace in the area.

He said the gesture was their way of giving back to the society in which they lived and worked. He promised to build more of such posts at other places.

He expressed the hope that the post would help the police to reduce crime and urged other foreigners living in Ghana to support the government in achieving its goals.

The Kaneshie Divisional Police Command, Chief Superintendent F. S. Adika, on behalf of the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, expressed the service’s appreciation to Mr Al Moussawi and his brother for providing the Mikose community with the police post.

He said with the police post in place, police patrol teams using motorbikes would now be on constant duty. He urged the community to form a neighbourhood watchdog committee that would complement the efforts of the police.

The assemblymember for the area, Theophilus Okunor, urged residents to support the police in their work to ensure peace in the community.
