
37 Military Hospital closes Emergency Unit for 10 days – Here’s what you need to know
The Ghana Armed Forces has announced the temporary closure of the Trauma and Surgical Emergency Unit at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra for fumigation and maintenance.
The closure, which takes effect from Monday, August 4 to Wednesday, August 13, 2025, forms part of efforts to uphold hygiene and safety standards at one of the country’s leading medical facilities.
According to a press statement issued by the Department of Public Relations of the Armed Forces, the routine exercise is aimed at ensuring a clean and safe environment for both patients and staff.
“During the closure, Simango Ward will serve as the designated unit for all trauma and surgical emergency cases,” the statement noted.
“The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to assure the public that measures have been put in place to ensure continuity of care and minimise inconvenience,” it added.
The military has appealed to the public for cooperation and patience during the temporary closure and reaffirmed its commitment to delivering safe and effective healthcare services.
The 37 Military Hospital, which operates under the Ghana Armed Forces, is one of the country’s premier referral hospitals, serving both military personnel and civilians.
