NAFCO CEO donates 1,000 bags of rice to Muslim communities in Upper East region

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company(NAFCO) Alhaji Hanan Abdul-Wahab has called on Muslims in the Upper East Region to continue to observe all the health protocols to curb the spread of the Coronavirus(COVID-19) pandemic in their respective communities.

He equally observed that in these abnormal times Muslims should endeavour to be each other’s keeper regarding adherence to all the health protocols such as social distancing, wearing of nose masks and regular hand washing with soap among others to ensure the well being of all.

Alhaji Abdul-Wahab made the call in a statement made on his behalf by Alhaji Bashiru Abdul-Wahab at Bawku during separate presentation ceremonies to donate a total of 1,000 (one thousand) bags of rice and five thousand (5,000) 1.5 litre bottles of cooking oil to Muslim communities and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Regional and district secretariats in the Region.

The gesture was to support the beneficiaries in their respective Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations which was marked on Sunday (May 24,2020).

Donations 

Giving a break down of the donations, the CEO intimated that 400 bags of the rice was given to the NPP Regional Secretariat for onward distribution to the various party secretariats in the Region.He said the Bawku Central Constituency of the Party received 100 bags of rice while 250 bags of rice went to the various communities in Bawku and its environs.

Alhaji Abdul-Wahab further explained that Muslim communities in the Bawku Municipality were also given 250 bags of rice.

The CEO stated that “for the past three consecutive years I have devoted myself towards making such donations as a way of supporting Muslim communities and putting smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries”.

Appreciation 

The Bawku Chief Imam, Alhaji Mohammed Murtala thanked the CEO for the gesture and prayed for Allah’s blessings for him and his entire family to continue to support his Muslim brothers and sisters particularly in deprived communities.
