The US Ambassador to Ghana, Gene A. Cretz, said the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) had also funded 15 education offices across the country.

He noted that Ghana had been a leader of the “Education for all” movement and added that it was one of 20 countries leading the charge to eradicate child literacy globally.

“A leading pioneer on the African continent of the mother tongue instruction approach for primary education, Ghana is also addressing the challenge of increasing child literacy and language acquisition through the nationwide introduction of the National Literacy Acceleration Programme,” he said.

Importance of complex

The Municipal Chief Executive of LEKMA, Mr Seth Badu Tawiah, thanked the Ghana Education Service (GES) for selecting the assembly as one of the beneficiaries of the project.

He was optimistic that the provision of the complex would help the education directorate to perform its core mandate of ensuring quality education through effective and efficient supervision and monitoring of academic performance of both public and private schools.
