Wrapped in a poly-case and weighing 14 kilogrammes, the transparent Swedish-made gas cylinder, also called the “Miss Gas”, has been calibrated, and it is light in weight and easy to handle.

Unique nature of cylinder

Speaking at the launch of the transparent gas cylinder in Accra, Mr Maxwell Opuni Antwi, the General Manager of the Obaatanpa Group of Companies, suppliers of the cylinder, said the cylinder was unique because its transparent form gave the user the opportunity to visually assess the quantity of gas in it.

“In the event of any leakage, the regulator on the cylinder automatically stops the supply of gas, preventing any incidence of fire outbreak,” he said.

Approval and safety

According to Mr Antwi, the Ghana Standards Authority, the National Petroleum Authority and the Environmental Protection Agency have given approval for the sale of the cylinders.

He said the cylinders were environmentally friendly and durable, compared to the traditional metallic cylinders, adding, “The transparent gas cylinder ensures safety and .prevents the spread of fire in case of a fire outbreak because it takes about 12 hours before the glass fibre can explode”.
