They included three queenmothers, who are the Afienaa Manye, Ngleshie Alata Manye and Glefe Manye.

A High Court Judge,  Justice Patience Mills-Tetteh, swore the chiefs and queenmothers into office.

The inauguration paves way for the chiefs to form judicial councils to arbitrate on issues from the court.

Advice to members

In his remark, the Greater Accra Registrar of the House of Chiefs, Mr Harry A. K. Attipoe, said the newly inducted members should bring forth a new era of commitment and avoid litigation.

Mr Attipoe also advised them to protect and preserve the custom and tradition of the land to ease the responsibilities of the councils.

Commitment

The President of the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council, Oblempong Nii Kojo Ababio, said the various traditional rites had been performed to inaugurate the chiefs who would manage the affairs of the traditional area.

In addition, he said meetings had been held with the British High Commission and British Council to engage in development programmes in the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council.

According to him, the first batch of 11 chiefs and queenmothers of the traditional council would be gazetted this year.

Oblempong Ababio gave the assurance that the second batch of the council members was still going through the process required for them to be gazetted.

He commended the newly inducted members and urged them to work together to strengthen the traditional council.
