No injuries, deaths in accident involving Fan Milk logistics partner's truck at Achimota Overhead

Fan Milk PLC has acknowledged an accident involving a truck belonging to its third-party logistics partner, Adwenpa Transport Services Limited, at the Achimota overhead bridge on Saturday evening.

The incident, which occurred around 6 pm, caused significant traffic congestion on the Achimota-Tesano road.

In a statement, Fan Milk confirmed that the truck, operated by its logistics partner, was not carrying any products at the time of the accident. Fortunately, no injuries, fatalities, or damages to other vehicles were recorded. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the truck, emerged unscathed.

Preliminary accounts from eyewitnesses indicate that the driver swerved to avoid a collision with another vehicle, which fled the scene. This manoeuvre resulted in the truck overturning and blocking the roadway.

Fan Milk has apologised for the inconvenience caused by the accident.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused road users, the community, and motorists using this route,” the company stated.

Efforts are underway to clear the scene and restore normal traffic flow, while motorists have been advised to remain cautious when driving through the area.

The company further affirmed its commitment to safety, stressing its dedication to working closely with its logistics partner to prevent such incidents in the future.

Adwenpa Transport Services Limited is cooperating with authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
