NPP mourns Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has paid glowing tribute to the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, describing him as a generational inventor, philanthropist, religious leader, and a great pillar of support for the Party.

In a statement dated Monday, September 15, 2025, and signed by the Party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP expressed profound sorrow over Apostle Safo’s passing and extended condolences to his family and the Kristo Asafo Mission.

The founder of Kristo Asafo Church and Kantanka Group of Companies died last Thursday, at age 77.

Nicknamed the “Star of Africa”, Apostle Safo founded the Kristo Asafo Mission, the KOSA network of companies, and the Kantanka Group of Companies, including Kantanka Automobile, Ghana’s wholly indigenous automobile company.

His pioneering innovations in technology, agriculture, and industry made him one of Africa’s leading inventors and industrialists.

The Party further noted that Apostle Safo was not only a source of inspiration to many but also a strong supporter of the NPP in the Dome Kwabenya Constituency, where his daughter, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, served three terms in Parliament on the Party’s ticket.

“The NPP is deeply saddened by his passing and extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and the Kristo Asafo Mission.

The Party also commiserates with the rest of the nation for the painful loss of this extraordinary, illustrious citizen,” the statement said.

The NPP added that Apostle Safo’s enduring legacy of innovation, ingenuity, and service to humanity would continue to inspire generations across Ghana and beyond.
