Nsakina celebrates Homowo
The Chief and people of Nsakina have celebrated their annual Homowo Festival with a call on the people to work together to spearhead the development of the community.
The Chief, Nii Lantey Okunka, sprinkled the traditional meal, kpokpoi, at the sacred places in the community, including the palace, and poured libation as part of the rituals associated with the celebration.
This was done amid drumming and chanting of war songs, followed later by the eating of kpokpoi and palm nut soup.
In a speech, Nii Okunka charged the youth not to indulge in any social vices during the festival, cautioning that no elder would go to the aid of any youth who fell foul of the law.
A beauty pageant was held as part of the celebrations.
Earlier, the residents had cleaned up their surroundings and participated in a health walk as part of activities to herald the festival.
The Mankrado of Nsakina, Nii Tetteh Kobina, who spoke to journalists, complained about the bad roads in the area and said because of that, vehicles plying routes in the various communities often broke down.
