The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced that parts of the Greater Accra and Western Regions will experience power outages on Friday, July 25, 2025, due to planned and emergency maintenance works aimed at improving service delivery.
In three separate notices issued on July 23 and 24, the company outlined affected areas and timelines for the scheduled outages, which are expected to last between eight and twelve hours.
According to the first notice, emergency maintenance work in the Greater Accra Region will take place between 9:00am and 9:00pm on Friday. Communities expected to be affected include Mandela, SCC, Sunny Coast, Korkordjor, Kinshasha, and their surrounding areas.
In the Western Region, another emergency maintenance exercise is scheduled from 9:00am to 5:00pm on the same day. The affected areas include Asemkrom, Boison, Omanpe, Kwahu, Enchi Township, Nyankaman, Yakasi, Akontonbra Nkwanta, Achimfo Adjakaa, Adjoum, and nearby communities.
Additionally, a planned maintenance operation will be undertaken in the Greater Accra Region from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Residents in Sowutuom, Israel, Race Course, Gbawe Top Base, McCarthy Hill, Weija, Abease, Achiama, Obeyeyie, Ayikai Doblo, and surrounding areas should expect interruptions in power supply.
In all three statements, ECG expressed regret for the inconvenience the outages may cause and reassured the public of its commitment to delivering improved and reliable electricity services.
"ECG regrets the inconvenience that will arise out of this exercise," the company noted across all announcements. Customers were encouraged to take the necessary precautions to minimise the impact of the outage on their daily activities.
