I'd rather give to charity than get BBL surgery - Wendy Shay

Ghanaian musician Wendy Shay has expressed her preference to donate her money rather than spend it on a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure.

In a recent interview on 3Music on July 23, 2025, she emphasized that while BBL is a personal choice, she would rather use her funds for charitable purposes. 

Wendy Shay noted that individuals who wish to undergo BBL should be free to make their own decisions, highlighting her support for personal autonomy in such matters. 

This statement comes after she previously denied undergoing BBL herself, attributing her curves to natural weight gain and asserting that her figure is 100% natural.

“It’s no offense to people who have BBL. If you want to have BBL, that’s your choice. But personally, I would have used that money to donate to people” she said.

The "Too Late" hitmaker, Wendy Shay, highlighted her commitment to the music industry, stating that she's in the business to sell her music, not her body. (Read EDITOR’S LENS: Ghana’s film industry deserves a bold, new script)

In her view, her talent and artistry are what make her appealing, eliminating the need for cosmetic procedures like BBL to enhance her appearance. 

“I don’t need it and like I said, I don’t even see the craze about it because when you die, it’s food for the maggots. That’s why I don’t focus on that. I’m here for music; I’m here to sell music and not my body,” she stated.
