The citation accompanying the award, highlighted the contribution of Mrs Naah in the area of ensuring financial support for students, particularly facilitating the process for guaranteeing students’ loans.

The President of NUGS, Mr Prosper Dzitse, who presented the award at a dinner and fundraising ceremony in Accra, said the award was in recognition of her sterling leadership qualities that had brought immense transformation to the SLTF.

“Under her stewardship, the fund has successfully rolled over 41 colleges of education onto the scheme nationwide, operationalised MMDAs as an option to guarantee students’ loans and achieved improvement in loan accessibility resulting in 25 per cent increase in disbursement over the past academic year,” he said.

According to Mr Dzitse, since Mrs Naah took over the management of the fund, she had introduced innovative products to ensure the efficient disbursement of loans under the fund, adding that her exemplary leadership had “wiped away” the frustration students went through when accessing the fund.

Acceptance remarks

In her acceptance remarks, Mrs Naah dedicated the award to the hardworking team at the SLTF, adding that the consistent support of the staff had brought the fund to where it was now.

Touching on some of the plans for 2015, she said discussions were ongoing with key financial institutions to introduce a top-up loan for some categories of students who might need bigger financial support.

“To make loan repayment more convenient, additional re-payment options will be introduced to cater for past beneficiaries both at home and abroad,” Mrs Naah said.
