Organisers announce 2016 Aviation Awards finalists

Xodus Communications Limited, organisers of the Aviation Awards, has announced the 2016 nominees for this year's awards.

According to the Events Director, Mr Richard Abbey Jnr, 82 entries were received from over 25 companies for the awards event, the first of its kind in Ghana.  

It will be rewarding and recognising distinctions exhibited in every classification of the aviation industry. These categories are wide ranging and stretch from domestic and international airline operators to service providers, travel and tourism companies, insurance and supportive financial institutions, local airports and many more.

The categories include the Airline Operator of the year, the Regional Africa Airline Award, Best Aviation Online Payment Award, Aviation Institution of the Year, Airline Personality of the Year, Best Customer Service Award, Promising Aviation Company Award, Corporate Social Responsibility Award, Country Manager of the Year Award, Brand of the Year Award, Aviation Cargo Transporter Award and Promising Aviation Professional of the Year.

The rest are Domestic Airline of the Year, Marketing Campaign Award, Service Company of the Year, Logistics Company of the Year, Aviation Tourism Award, International Airline of the Year and Promising Airline of the Year.

Special awards would go to Dr Daniel McKorley, Chief Executive Officer of McDan Shipping Limited, Mr Charles Hanson Adu, Operations Director, Ghana Airport Company Limited, former President Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings, Air Commodore Victor Kwame Mamphey (Retd), Ghana Civil Aviation Authority; Mrs Patricia Nyekodze Mawuli, first female Ghanaian civilian pilot; and Alhaji Dr Asuma Banda, Chairman of Antrak Air.

According to a press release issued by the organisers, this industry gathering and networking forum is expected to champion excellence and improve business relationships. 

It is also meant to streamline the provision of good customer service and create awareness for the depth of hard work and due diligence that go into providing safe and secure travel behind the scenes of the industry. 

According to the release, with a strong and disciplined governing board made up of stalwart Ghanaians well versed and experienced in their field of play, the selection, nomination, due diligence and award positioning of each category of the awards would confidently be assured and fully endorsed by the survey company AC Nielson and Company.

The awards, which are endorsed by the Ministry of Transport, would be presented on July 29, 2016 in an event to be held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel at 6 p.m.
