The Police has arrested a 37-year-old carpenter over the killing of a security guard at the Kyebi Presbyterian College of Education.
Police said the suspect, identified as Kwame Arhin and also known as Abompe, was picked up on Sunday, November 16, 2025, in a bush near the school.
In a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Eastern South Regional Command, it was explained that the victim, Jonas Baah Sarpong, worked as a security guard at the college.
His body was found near the Kyebi Court Complex on Saturday, November 15, 2025, after a distress call to police.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident followed a disagreement between Sarpong and Arhin.
Police said the suspect allegedly slashed the guard’s throat with a cutlass and ran away.
The Crime Scene Management team visited the scene, examined the area and moved the body to the Kyebi Government Hospital morgue.
The remains were later sent to the Police Hospital in Accra for preservation and autopsy.
DSP David Fianko-Okyere, Public Affairs Officer for the Eastern South Regional Command, explained that Arhin was in custody and being prepared for court.
“The suspect is in custody being processed for court whilst investigation is ongoing,” he added.
