The 66-year-old businessman was murdered in cold blood when he was returning to his residence after work about 8.30 p.m. last Friday.

According to the police in Kumasi, as Sullemana got down from his vehicle to open the main gate to his house, his assailants drew closer and shot him twice in the stomach and in the head.

Neighbours who heard the gunshots initially considered the sound to be that of a fire cracker.

However, when they approached the Alhaji’s vehicle, they saw him lying in a pool of blood.

They rushed him to hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The victim was a known businessman who dealt in vehicle spare parts and plied his trade in Europe and Asia.

He left behind two wives and nine children.

The Ashanti Regional Police spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammed Tanko, said after an autopsy, the body was released to the family for immediate burial, in accordance with Islamic tradition.

He urged residents in and around Kumasi to not panic but be watchful and volunteer information to help the police in their investigations.
