They must ensure that whatever information they release from their various entities are authentic, accurate and credible at all times, the Head of Public Relations Coordinating Division (PRCD) of the Information Service Department (ISD), Mrs Ethel Codjoe Amissah, has said.

“I want to urge PROs to be very alert, especially in this election year, to ensure misinformation, disinformation and information disorder do not prevail over authentic information that has to do with their respective MDAs.

‘Let us do more this year to ensure the media carries authentic and accurate information,” she said.

Mrs Amissah was speaking at the annual mid-year MDA PROs review summit in Accra yesterday. The summit was aimed at reviewing progress made, the challenges and aligning of efforts towards achieving their objectives.

In all,100 PROs from Regional Coordinating Councils, Departments, Agencies and Ghana’ Foreign Missions participated in the meeting.

Commendation

Mrs Amissah commended the PROs for improving on their key performance indicators for the first six months, especially submission of reports which increased by 30 per cent.

“I want to express my gratitude to each one of you for your hard work and dedication to our team at the PRCD.

“We appreciate your contributions to our shared goals and targets for the first half of the year. Our performance has improved, especially in report submission, compared to last year’s; and we hope to build on that in the second half of the year,” she said.

Mrs Amissah encouraged them to continue to work together, share ideas, experiences and compare notes to achieve their target this year.

“I urge you to work together to make this meeting productive, informative and fruitful. Let us share our experiences, ideas and perspectives to propel us forward to achieve our shared target by the end of the year,” she added.

Commitment

Mrs Amissah further said that the PRCD was committed to ensuring that all PROs conformed to designed guidelines to enhance professionalism and ensure cordiality in their performance.

She said the ministry would from next month spearhead town hall meetings, and therefore, urged them to be well prepared to ensure the dissemination of accurate information.

Mrs Amissah added that PRO’s “Virtual Need-To-Know Series” information to keep them updated about the government’s activities and achievements would commence from next week, July 23, 2024.
