In the Cape Coast Metropolis, about 15 households at Effutu Mampong, as well as the Effutu Mampong Community School and the Abakam Presbyterian School, had their roofs ripped apart by the rainstorm.

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Coordinator for Cape Coast, Alhaji Yusif Farouk Adamu, said the office was still gathering information on affected households.

The NADMO Coordinator for the KEEA Municipality, Mr Anthony Cobbinah, said seven communities in the municipality were the hardest hit by the rainstorm.

These communities include Elmina, Broyibima, Etrue, Abrem Agona, Abrem Essiam, Elmina Bantuma and Pershie.

Mr Cobbinah said four schools, including the Elmina Catholic Boys, Elmina Methodist and an Anglican School, had their roofs ripped apart too. Items destroyed in the affected communities were mostly electrical gadgets such as television sets and refrigerators.

“Now many of the affected need roofing sheets and a few basic things to go through the situation, but we in the municipal office don’t have anything here,” he said.

He indicated that the office had informed the national secretariat of NADMO.
