The deceased, Bernice Adjorlolo, and her family were attacked in her room by the unidentified persons about 2:55 a.m. yesterday.

She was the wife of Mr David Adjorlolo, one of the campaign managers of the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Ashaiman Central, Mr Alfred Agbesi.

Account

The incident has traumatised his family.  Mr Adjorlolo told journalists that around 2:55 a.m. yesterday, he heard a sound on his door.

He said when he peeped outside, he saw two men wielding a gun standing at the entrance of his bedroom.

He said he pushed the door back with the help of his wife, but as he attempted to secure the locks, the robbers released the trigger of the gun, with the bullet hitting his wife’s chest. She fell immediately.

Mr Adjorlolo said one of the robbers later led him to a drawer in the room and demanded that he show them where the money was, but after the search they realised there was no money and so they left.

The grief-stricken husband said he came back to the bedroom only to realise that his television set had been stolen.

Mr Agbesi, who visited the family, expressed shock at the murder and described it as very pathetic.

He said following the unfortunate incident, his campaign team had declared a 48-hour moratorium on campaign activities to mourn the deceased.

Vigilance

He entreated residents of the constituency to be extra vigilant and report to the police any activities by persons that would pose a security threat to the peace and tranquillity prevailing in the area.

Meanwhile, a cross-section of residents of the area, some of whom spoke to the Daily Graphic, had appealed for more policemen and a patrol vehicle for the area to help combat crime and save lives and property.

One of them, Mr Isaac Mensah, said some of the residents had been struck by fear following the murder and called on the police to intensify their patrols.

Investigations underway

The Tema Regional Police Command has confirmed the murder and launched investigations into the matter.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Juliana Obeng, told the Daily Graphic that the police had since been at the murder scene to gather valuable information to aid investigations and assured residents that the police would get to the bottom of the matter.
