The body of the deceased, Safia Seidu, was found in a pool of blood between two cars parked in the house by a houseboy, Alhassan Suleimana, last Wednesday night.

The Airport Police have mounted a search for the security man, Adams Raman, 25, who is currently on the run.

It is suspected that the incident took place a few minutes after the employers, who are Lebanese, had travelled out of the country.

Houseboy

Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Airport District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Mr Yao Tetegah, said the houseboy reported the incident to the police about 9:25 p.m. on Wednesday.

Suleimana, he said, had told the police that he had gone out to buy some food from a food seller nearby.

While he was returning home, Mr Tetegah said, a neighbour inquired from him what was happening in the house, since there was some unusual noise emanating from there.

He said Suleimana quickly rushed home to find out what the noise was about but, to his surprise, the house was quiet.

Safia’s body found

Mr Tetegah said Suleimana claimed that he went to Safia’s room to deliver a drink she had requested for, only to find blood all over the place.

He traced the blood from the room to the compound of the house and found Safia’s body lying between the two cars.

“She had multiple stabs on her chest and stomach and had blood all over her body,” he said.

He said Suleimana started shouting and calling the security man to come over but there was no response.

Mr Tetegah said the houseboy run to the security post, but the security man was nowhere to be found.

Employment

Investigations by the police, Mr Tetegah said, had established that the Lebanese owners of the house had employed Safia and Raman about three months ago.

He said the driver of the household had told the police that the deceased had confided in him three days earlier that Raman had made sexual advances at her.

“It is suspected that the suspect attempted to have sex with her and she refused that night, leading to the violent attack,” he said.

The body has been deposited at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for autopsy.

Family and employers

He said the police were yet to contact the family of the deceased, who are believed to be in the northern part of Ghana.

The employers of the deceased are also yet to be contacted.

However, Mr Tetegah said the employers of the private security man,  Akaa Security at Adabraka, were co-operating in the search for the suspect.
