Shoprite supports orphans in Nsawam

A retail outlet, Shoprite Ghana, donated assorted household and food items to the orphans at the Eye of The Lord orphanage situated at Dzamatui, near Nsawam in the Eastern Region in fulfilment of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) for the month of April.

The items included toiletries, bags of rice, cooking oil, detergents, cooked food, assorted drinks, Shoprite branded pens and pencils, among others.

The donation, which was aimed at bringing relief to the orphans, formed part of the company’s new resolve to engage in a charity project every month.

A delegation from Shoprite, led by Nina Dedry who made the donation on behalf of the company, reiterated Shoprite’s commitment to its CSR policy this year.

She said the donation would enable the inmates of the leprosarium to feel a part of society and experience love.

 Members of the Shoprite team that made the donation included Ms Ruth Abedu Kennedy, Trainee Manager, Mr Bright Mensah, Front-End Controller, Rossina Abgalega, Front Administration Manager and Catherine Adiasani, an Administration Assistant at Shoprite.

Shoprite has since the beginning of the year pledged support to the poor and venerable to uplift the livelihood of underprivileged people especially those residing in rural parts of the country.

The founder of the Eye of the Lord Orphanage, Mr Samuel Kwarpong Darko receiving the items on behalf of the orphans, assured Shoprite that the items would be shared to the orphans to uplift their well being and made a passionate appeal to other philanthropists to come to the aid of the orphans.
