Smoke incident at KIA Terminal 3 restaurant was contained in 8 minutes

A smoke incident at the Cho’ Restaurant, located in the Meeters and Greeters area of Terminal 3 at Kotoka International Airport (KIA), was swiftly brought under control by emergency services on the afternoon of Wednesday, 25 June 2025, the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) has explained.

In a press statement, the GACL said the rescue and firefighting services received the alert at approximately 16:02 GMT and promptly deployed a response team to the scene.

The team successfully brought the situation under control within eight minutes, by 16:10 GMT, preventing any injuries or significant property damage.

The GACL said no injuries or significant damage were recorded. The cause of the smoke is yet to be determined, with investigations currently underway.

Operations at Terminal 3 were not affected, and the GACL has assured the public that safety remains a top priority across all airport facilities.
