Supreme Court throws out Speaker Bagbin's application on 4 declared vacant seats
The Supreme Court has dismissed an application by the Speaker of Parliament asking the court to vacate its ruling that hold the Speaker’s declaration of four seats in Parliament vacant.
In a ruling Wednesday, a five-member panel of the court held that the Speaker’s application amounted to a “misinformation and misapprehension of the law.”

According to the court, the Speaker’s submission that the court had no jurisdiction in the matter was misconceived because the matter in question was clear case of constitutional interpretation.
“It is therefore misinformation and mis-apprehension of law for the applicant to represent that the Supreme Court has no jurisdiction to give interpretation on a provision of the constitution that has attracted two different meanings,” the court held.
