Swedru Govt hospital gets two more infant incubators from Kokrokoo Charities
The Kokrokoo Charities Foundation has donated two additional infant incubators to the Swedru Government Hospital in the Central Region.

The gesture is to enhance the hospital's ability to care for preterm babies delivered or referred to the facility, which serves as a referral center in the Swedru enclave.
This recent donation, made on Friday, August 23, 2024, brings the total number of incubators provided by the Foundation to the hospital to three, with the first one donated in 2022.
The funding for all three incubators was provided by Mr. Richard Quansah, owner of R&B Farms and Richie Plantations Limited, who pledged to support the hospital further after financing the first incubator.
Under its “Project 100 Incubators” initiative, the Kokrokoo Charities Foundation, a non-governmental organization, has so far donated 62 infant incubators to various health facilities across Ghana to address critical healthcare needs for preterm babies.
The Medical Superintendent of Swedru Government Hospital, Dr. Julius Abuku, expressed his gratitude for the timely donation, noting that the hospital's existing incubators were malfunctioning, leaving them reliant on the incubator donated by the Foundation in 2022.
He emphasised that the three incubators provided by the Foundation would significantly reduce the mortality rate of preterm babies at the hospital and within the surrounding areas.
According to Dr. Abuku, prior to the most recent donation, the preterm mortality rate was over 10 per 1,000 births, but this has now been reduced to less than 10.

He also appealed to other benevolent organisations and philanthropists to assist the hospital with retooling equipment, as many of their current devices are old and less effective.
The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kokrokoo Charities Foundation, Mr. Kwami Sefa Kayi, commended Mr. Quansah for his continued support and expressed confidence that with the help of his team and generous donors, the Foundation would achieve its goal of acquiring 100 incubators to support healthcare delivery across the country.
He noted that the satisfaction of saving preterm babies' lives drives his commitment to the project.
In his remarks, Mr. Quansah, shared that the donation was made to commemorate the 85th birthdays of his twin mothers and to help save the lives of vulnerable infants.
"This donation celebrates the lives of my twin mothers, who will turn 85 on August 24. It also serves as a way to thank God for His blessings and to support healthcare delivery in the hospital's catchment areas," he said.
The Kokrokoo Charities Foundation, established by Mr. Kayi, presenter of Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Morning Show, is a social intervention initiative aimed at addressing critical social needs in Ghana and helping to resolve emerging development challenges.
Since its inception in 2014, the Foundation’s Project 100 Incubators initiative has saved many preterm babies across the country.
