Teacher installed Baatanhemaa of Gomoa Akyemfo

Madam Agnes Blankson, a teacher at the Hannah School Complex at Madina in Accra, has been installed as Baatanhemaa of Gomoa Akyemfo, a fishing community in the Central Region, under the stool name Nana Kweikuma Akonoa II.

She swore the oath of secrecy and allegiance to the Omanhene of the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area, Obirifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II.

Nana Akonoa stressed the need to curb the rising incidence of teenage pregnancy in the area and the need to devise strategies such as regular sensitisation among the youth to control the situation.

She explained that it was important for the youth to be regularly educated on the effects of premarital sex to help them lead responsible lives, adding that the absence of parental care in the area had paved the way for teenage girls to loiter, particularly at night, making them susceptible to sexual abuse.
