Tolerance key to peaceful elections — Rt Rev Dr Ofori

The Right Reverend Dr Setorwu Ofori, Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church (GEC) has urged Ghanaians to tolerate divergent views and remain united to ensure that the forthcoming general election is peaceful.

“Teamwork and tolerance must be the watch words of every Ghanaian as they are critical to ensuring that election 2016 is peaceful,” he said.

The Moderator was preaching the sermon at a thanksgiving service to climax this year’s Global Men’s National Conference at Ho, the Volta Regional capital. The conference was on the theme: “Thy Kingdom Come: The Role of Men in Kingdom Business”.

He said just as with the triune God, there was unity among God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and as humans created in their image, we must also embrace one another and work as a team in every sphere of our national life.

Synod Clerk

Rev. Raphael Mac Attih, Synod Clerk of the Global Evangelical Church, who was the main speaker at the conference, called on Ghanaian men to stretch their efforts beyond their perfunctory duties, take initiatives in order to contribute their quota to national development and also fulfil their God-given mandate as leaders.

He said various tasks were suffering setbacks because most of the men who were supposed to be in charge were rather on the touch-line or were mere spectators.

“Even some of those men who are involved in certain activities are only performing lightly — they are neither hot nor cold,” he observed.

Better place

He said Ghana could be transformed and made a better place for all, if men assumed their rightful positions and performed their roles and responsibilities to the fullest.

Rev. Attih thus challenged all men to gird up their loins and get into action so as to redeem their sunken image and provide the needed leadership for society.

The National Coordinator of the Global Men’s Ministry, Rev. Emmanuel Bredzei, said there was a new wave of revival blowing through the ministry, which he promised would be sustained.
