Mr Oliver Van-Parys congratulating Mr Ahiadome on winning the top prize

Total Petroleum honours transporters

The Managing Director of Total Petroleum Ghana Limited (TPGL), Mr Oliver Van-Parys, has commended workers of the company, particularly those in the transport sector for adhering to safety precautions in their work.

He said last year, the sector covered at least 3.4 million kilometres without any accident “and most important, we recorded zero fatality”.

“We need to ensure that we maintain the highest safety standards in the industry. To do that, we need to have all trucks transporting our products in perfect condition,” he stated.

Transporters awards ceremony

Mr Van-Parys made the remarks at the 2015 Transporters and Drivers Awards Ceremony where seven transporters were awarded various prizes for their contribution to the success of the company

Mr J.K.  Ahiadome received the prize for the best transporter.

To enhance safety standards, Mr Van-Parys said the TPGL had facilitated the installation of on-board computers on bulk road vehicles.

“The computers will monitor not only their location but to ensure they drive strictly within the required speed limits and that they respect the driving time and rest periods,” he explained.

He commended the transport sector for exhibiting excellence disclosing that the firm, in partnership with the seven transporters, had a dedicated fleet of 270 trucks and had employed 800 people.
