The board is to promote constant interaction between the ministry and users of its services and advise the minister on adjustments in policy direction, planning objectives and operations strategies.

The minister, Mrs Dzifa Attivor, who inaugurated the board, expressed her gratitude to all the previous board members who had assisted the ministry in diverse ways.

She also said the ministry had oversight responsibilities for 15 implementing agencies which included the aviation, railway, maritime and road transport services sub-sectors.

“As a ministry and government, the people who gave us the mandate to govern them expect us to give of our best and deliver on our promises within a four-year term and I believe we can succeed through hard work,” she said.

Pursuit of mandate

Mrs Attivor entreated the members to get to work immediately in the pursuit of the mandate in order to build the country.

She expressed the hope that the board members would bring their immense knowledge and diverse expertise to bear on the policy, objectives and operations of the ministry.

According to her, the ministry was assiduously working on some critical priority projects and programmes so the new board would be updated on the nature and state of these projects.
