Tropical Cable picks two manufacturing awards

The company received shields and citations for their contribution to the manufacturing sector.

Xodus Communications, a local public relations and communications company, organised the event which is expected to be held annually.

Growth

Speaking to the Daily Graphic, the Marketing Manager of TCCL, Nana Kwame Oteng-Gyasi, said it was a great honour to receive the awards in the year which marked the company’s 20th anniversary.

The excited marketing manager said TCCL would continue to maintain the high quality and safety standards which it had cultivated since it started operation in 1998 (having incorporated the previous year) as a manufacturer of overhead line conductors and a wide range of insulated cables for both electrical and telecommunication use locally and for export.

Quality standards

TCCL was the first wholly owned Ghanaian cable manufacturer to achieve the coveted International Standards Oragnisation (ISO) 9001: 2000 certification in June 2004.

ISO 9001: 2000, an international standard, sets out globally accepted requirements for quality management systems.

Nana Oteng-Gyasi said the company would continue to contribute to the economy and also expand its operations to create more employment for the youth.

“I pray that in the coming years, the macroeconomic indicators should improve to induce more capital injections into the manufacturing industry and also help increase investment so that we can all grow as a country,” he stated.

Global competition

The Director of Xodus Communications, Mr Richard Abbey, said the awards were about celebrating “outstanding performance in stewardship, health and safety, corporate social responsibility and innovation in the manufacturing industry.”

He said the awards were also to motivate companies to be professional and grow to compete locally and globally.
