Turkish govt presents medical equipment to MoH

The Turkish government has presented medical equipment worth $99,210 to the Ministry of Health in Accra.

The newborn intensive and emergency care equipment is to help the ministry improve maternal and child health care in the country.

The equipment included 20 phototherapy machines, 20 pulse oxymeters, 10 sphygmomanometers, five video-assisted laryngoscopes,  three infusion pumps and three oxygen concentrators.

Others were a Truphatek laryngoscope, a Brookwalter retractor and a hand-held Doppler ultrasound machine. 

The equipment will be distributed among the Tamale Teaching and the Central hospitals, the 37 Military and the Gushegu District hospitals.

The presentation 

Presenting the equipment, the Turkish Minister of Health, Mr Mehmet Muezzinoglu, said Turkey was glad to contribute to the improvement in healthcare delivery in Ghana.

He said Turkey will offer educational opportunities to Ghanaian nurses to better themselves and help develop infrastructure to extend quality medical services to the doorstep of the people of Ghana. 

Receiving the items on behalf of the ministry, the Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Alfred Tia Sugri, expressed the ministry’s gratitude for the gesture and added that the equipment would go a long way to improve maternal and child health in the country.
