Two companies illegally selling Kubekro lands — Survey

A detailed survey by the Lands Commission has exposed as untrue, the claim of two companies, Setho Classic Engineering and Donino Global Limited, which claim to own large portions of land in the Kubekro and Appollonia towns in the Kpone-Katamanso District.

Leaders in the two traditional areas have also denied ever selling land to the two companies who are said to be re-selling tracts of lands in the area to unsuspecting victims.

Land guard terrorists

The two companies, under the guise that they had bought the land from the chief of Appollonia, had detailed land guards to the area who were terrorising legitimate claimants to portions of land in the area.

Also affected by the activities of the land guards employed by the two companies is the Senior staff Association (SSA) of the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) which had acquired portions of land for development by its members.

The revelations came to light when a delegation from the SSA of GCGL, paid a courtesy call on the chiefs of Kubekro and later, Appollonia to check on the land it had acquired.

Peace threatened

Nii Armah Ashiboye, secretary to the Kubekro Stool, said the activities of the two companies had threatened the peace between Kubekro and Appollonia necessitating the District Security Committee (DISEC) of the Kpone-Katamanso District Assembly to call a meeting with the various stakeholders.

The DISEC meeting, he recounted, had been attended by the Member of Council of State for the area, Mr Adjei Annan, and added that on a number of occasions, the two companies had been invited to the meeting but they had failed to do so.

Tema Police Commander praised

Nii Ashiboye praised the professional thoroughness of the Tema Regional Police Commander,  Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mrs Beatrice Zakpaa, who invited all the feuding parties and after listening to what they had to say, wrote to the Lands Commission to conduct a survey on the lands in the area.

Following the survey, a search was also conducted which revealed that the two companies owned no land in the area and that the only company that owned land there was Naak Estates Limited.

Mr Samuel K Koomson, an executive of the SSA of the GCGL, who led the delegation, thanked the chiefs of the two areas, the Tema Regional Commander of Police, the Member of Council of State and the District Chief Executive of the KKDA for the various roles they had played that led to the resolution of the matter.
