Two Kumasi communities get police station

A new police station has been opened for residents of Denchemuoso and Atwima-Techiman in the Kumasi metropolis.

Funded through the District Development Fund (DDF), the GH¢218,962.44 police station will serve  Atwima-Boko, Ohwimase, Atwima-Techiman and other communities whose residents had to travel to the Sofoline or Twedie Police stations before accessing the services of the police.

The new station has a station officer’s office, a CID office, a common room, a juvenile cell (the first of its kind in the region), male and female cells, an armoury and a store.

 

Regional Commander

Inaugurating the station, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Mr Nathan Kofi Boakye, commended the chiefs and people of the area for the land and other forms of support towards the provision of the project.

He called for more support and collaboration with the police in the form of provision of vital information to make the police carry out their duties without much  difficulty.

Mr Boakye urged the people of the various communities to form community-watch committees to complement the efforts of the police at curbing crime.

 

Atwimahene

The Atwimahene, Nana Antwi Agyei II, pledged the support of the chiefs and people to the police to enable them to undertake their duties effectively.

He called on the people to abide by the laws of the land to prevent them from being arrested or dragged to the police station.
