Vice President departs to Cuba, Canada
The Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, left Accra last Tuesday night for Havana, Cuba on a two-day official visit.
While away, Dr Bawumia will be the special guest of honour at the graduation ceremony of 232 Ghanaian doctors trained at the University of Medical Sciences, Cuba.
A statement signed by the Director of Communications at the Office of the Vice-President, Mr Frank Agyei-Twum, said Dr Bawumia would also hold talks with the President and the Vice-President of Cuba, Mr Miguel Díaz-Canel and Salvador Valdes Mesa, respectively, and other senior Cuban government officials, after which he would lay a commemorative wreath at the African Heroes Park.

It said the Vice-President would leave Havana for Vancouver, Canada on Saturday to lead Ghana’s delegation on a trade and investment mission organised by the Ghana High Commission in Canada, in collaboration with the Canada Africa Strategic Investment Group Inc., and deliver a lecture at the Simon Fraser University, British Columbia.
It further stated that Dr Bawumia, after the lecture, would meet and interact with the Ghanaian community in Vancouver.
Speaker of Parliament
In the Vice-President’s absence, the statement said, the Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, shall, in accordance with Article 60(11) of the Constitution, act in his stead until the arrival of the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, today.
According to the statement, Dr Bawumia would return to Accra on Wednesday, July 24, 2019.
