
Wa court jails teenager 20 years for armed robbery involving motorbike and cash
A 19-year-old man, Adams Hamidu, also known as Gyida, has been sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment with hard labour by the Wa Circuit Court for robbery.
The sentence was handed down on Thursday, June 5, 2025, after the court found him guilty in a case prosecuted by the Upper West Regional Police Command.
In February 2025, Hamidu and another suspect, who is yet to be arrested, attacked a victim and made away with a blue Honda motorbike valued at GH¢20,000, a Tecno mobile phone worth GH¢1,300, and GH¢10,800 in cash.
He was arrested on Saturday, June 1, 2025, at Domowa in the Wa West District during an operation based on police intelligence.
The Upper West Regional Police Command has commended the conviction, describing it as a positive outcome in the ongoing fight against violent crime in the region.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing public safety and maintaining security for all residents.
