It said it was particularly appalled at the riotous behaviour and assault on WAEC officials and media personnel by candidates of Bright SHS at Kukurantumi on August 6, 2020.

The statement said, information received by the Council indicated that "these students were protesting against the enforcement of stipulated examination rules and regulations."

The statement said, "such behaviours contravened Section 8(1) which frowns on sanctions, acts of assault on examination officials."

It said the Council would not hesitate to sanction Bright SHS, its staff and candidates found culpable in the action and future incidents.

"WAEC cautions all school authorities that it will not hesitate to take legal action against any person involved in compromising the integrity of the examination in any manner".
