Maame Ama Pratt: Wife of Kyerematen's running mate & daughter of Kwasi Pratt appointed Press Secretary to VP

Maame Ama Pratt, daughter of veteran journalist and social activist, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has been appointed as the Press Secretary to Vice-President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

Maame Ama Pratt is also the wife of Kwame Owusu Danso, the running mate to Alan Kyerematen in the 2024 general election.

The appointment was announced on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in a statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Spokesperson to the President.

The statement also named nine other persons who have been appointed as staff in the Vice-President's Office, including Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, a former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as Political Adviser to the Vice-President.

Others are Mrs Alberta Graham as Head of Administration, Professor Theresah Ennin as Presidential Staffer and Special Aide to the Vice-President, and Ms Daniella Mavis Mathias as Secretary to the Vice-President.

Who is Maame Ama Pratt?

Maame Ama Pratt is the daughter of veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt Jr. In 2015, she married Kwame Owusu Danso.

Kwame Owusu Danso recently served as running mate to Alan Kyerematen, an independent candidate in the December 2024 presidential election. 

A prominent media personality, Maame Ama Pratt is a television host on Pan African TV and the CEO of M.A.P, Concepts Ghana, the organisation behind the Obaasima Summit.

She also serves as the CEO of the Obaasima Foundation and the Managing Director of Pan African Television.

Ama Pratt holds a degree in Law, English, and Sociology, and has experience in Public Relations.

Alongside her media career, which includes work as a columnist, feature writer, and editor, she frequently appears on television and radio as a human rights activist and social analyst.

Maame Ama Pratt is an old student of the University of Ghana and Mfantsiman Girls Secondary School.
