Wife of Vice-President donates to hospital

The wife of the Vice-President, Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur, has donated eight 32-inch Panda digital TV sets to the Half-Assini Government Hospital in the Western Region. She undertook a similar gesture last June when she donated medical supplies worth hundreds of cedis to the same hospital.

The donation of the TV sets and medical items was in response to a request from the management of the hospital for assistance to furnish a VIP side ward put up by the district assembly.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Jomoro Constituency, Mr Thomas Elleamo Yankey, presented the TV sets on behalf of Mrs Amissah-Arthur at a ceremony at the hospital last Tuesday.

The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Jonathan Mensah, received the items on behalf of management  and staff of the hospital. He expressed the gratitude of the staff and management to Mrs Amissah-Arthur for her kind gesture.

He said the TV sets had come at the right time. “Now patients in the VIP ward can listen to government policies and programmes, as well as entertain themselves,” he said.

According to Dr Mensah, each room in the ward would have a television set.

The District Chief Executive for Jomoro, Mr George William Somiah, said the swift response from Mrs Amissah-Arthur showed her kind and sympathetic nature and her desire to see the health of the people improve.

In June this year, Mrs Amissah-Arthur presented assorted medical supplies and other items to the hospital.

They comprised three thermometers, clutches, three adjustable drip stands, stethoscopes, a walker, insulin and syringes. In addition, she provided four trousers and overcoats.

Present at the ceremony were the Constituency Chairman of NDC, Mr Gideon Konibah, and some party members.
