Asante was allegedly stabbed by a 19-year-old girl identified only as Naabi, about 9 p.m. last Saturday, after which she bolted.

Man-hunt

The police told the Daily Graphic that a search had been mounted to arrest Naabi to assist in investigations.

According to the Brong Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Christopher Tawiah, it was unclear the kind of relationship that existed between Naabi and Asante.

He said when the police arrived at the scene of the incident, Asante was lying in a pool of blood.

Hospital

Mr Tawiah said Asante was pronounced dead on arrival at the regional hospital where he had been rushed to.

He explained that although there were people around when the girl stabbed Asante, they did not arrest her.

He explained that what triggered the argument that resulted in the stabbing was still not known.

“We are hoping to arrest the suspect as soon as possible in order to unravel the reason behind this criminal act,” Mr Tawiah said.
