Funded by Canada, the vehicle is to help the ministry monitor various nutrition interventions.

Presenting the vehicle to the ministry, the UNICEF Country Representative, Ms Susan Namondo Ngongi, said maternal and child under-nutrition continued to be an issue of concern in Ghana.

According to her, the donation was to support the ministry supervise its interventions and offer assistance where due, especially in vulnerable communities.

Ms Ngongi indicated that although enough had been done to address the problem, more needed to be done to make meaningful gains, as there were still children who lacked essential nutrients for growth.

Canadian Representative

The Head of Development Cooperation of the Canadian High Commission, Mr Daniel Arsenault, said he was hopeful that the vehicle would be used to improve maternal and child health in the country.

Receiving the vehicle, the Minister of Health, Ms Sherry Ayittey, thanked UNICEF and its development partners for the gesture.

She gave an assurance that the vehicle would be used for the intended purpose.
