Accra College of Medicine signs partnership agreement with Taiwan Hospital
The Accra College of Medicine (ACM), a private medical school, has entered into a partnership with the Taichung Hospital in Taiwan to allow students of the college to visit the hospital for their clinical training.
As part of the agreement, lecturers of the college will also have the opportunity to visit the hospital and interact with specialists of the facility to improve their teaching methods and acquire more insights into new trends in medical training.
Agreement
At the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the two institutions on the premises of the college, the President of ACM, Professor Afua A.J Hesse, stated that the partnership would also allow medical practitioners of the hospital to visit the college and assist in the practical training of the students.
“It is not just about our students and faculty members visiting Taiwan, but their experts would also visit us and see some of our innovations and offer us the needed assistance to improve our operations,” she said.
For his part, the Superintendent of the Taichung Hospital, Professor Meng-Chih Lee, pointed out that the MoU would deepen the bilateral relations between Taiwan and Ghana in the field of medicine, adding that “the collaboration between the two institutions would enhance the teaching and learning of medicine in the country”.
On what the college seeks to add to medical training in the country, the Chairman of the Governing Council of ACM, Professor Stephen Adei, said the college was focused on training students who were “qualified technically and also have the heart to practise medicine”.
