As part of its 25th anniversary, the Ever Fruitfull Christian Centre has organised a health screening exercise for the people of Cato City, a suburb of Dzorwulu in Accra.
Over 300 people, made up of men, women and children, were screened for various ailments, including malaria, hepatitis, diabetes, hypertension and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
Those found with serious ailments were referred to hospitals, while others who could be treated were given medication on the spot.
Church members also took the opportunity to evangelise to the people who were present.
The General Overseer of the Church, Reverend Elton Dusi, who gave highlights of the screening exercise, said the gesture was the church’s way of giving back to the society where it operated.
He said the Lord has been good to the church from its humble beginnings at Lapaz to New Achimota and finally to its current and final place at Dzorwulu.
Rev. Dusi said as a church, it believes in the holistic development of its members and the community where it operates and therefore, decided to enter the community with a health screening through which the church could also evangelise to them.
He said that as part of the church's 25th anniversary, it had outlined other activities such as blood donation and a float, all in a bid to give back to the broader society.
