Malaria elimination taskforce schooled in resource mobilisation
Members of the National Malaria Elimination Taskforce under the National Malaria Elimination Programme have been schooled on resource mobilisation and strategies for malaria elimination in the country.
The members, who are made up of representatives of mainly civil society organisations working in the area of malaria from across the country, were brought together and educated on how to effectively mobilise resources for the implementation of their work.
The Director of Programmes, Hope For Future Generations (HFFG), Nancy Ansah, who schooled the participants, said resource mobilisation involved identifying, securing and utilising resources such as funding, personnel, equipment or expertise to achieve specific goals or objectives.
According to her, effective resource mobilisation was essential for organisations, projects or initiatives to function efficiently and fulfil their goals.
Similar objectives
She said resource mobilisation involved identifying, securing and utilising resources such as funding, personnel, equipment or expertise to achieve specific goals or objectives.
This, she said, could be done through fundraising, grant writing, partnership development, resource allocation, capacity building and advocacy, saying that to be able to get resources, one should map the resources and assess gaps.
She called on the taskforce to look for organisations that shared similar objectives in the area of health care or malaria prevention or elimination, as well as map out decision makers, stakeholders and partners who had the same level of interest and had influence to help achieve their aim.
She called on members to build relationships with decision makers and influencers to help in mobilising resources.
Members of the taskforce took turns to ask questions, while others shared experiences on some of the strategies they have used in their various organisations to source funds.
