‘Treat sore throat in children medically’

Dr Tanko, who was speaking at a forum organised by the Help Ministry of the Church of Christ in Accra, last Saturday, mentioned some of the symptoms of hole-in-heart as children having difficulty in swallowing food, tiredness, swollen legs and coughing.

Speaking on the topic: “Hole–In-Heart and Related Diseases,” he said there was no herbal treatment for hole-in-heart  condition. This can only be corrected through surgery, he added.

Dr Tanko also said when hole-in-heart developed in the upper chamber (ventricles) of the heart, it could be stitched, and  said when children developed it at a tender age, they were allowed to grow before they were operated, and added that even adults could develop hole-in-heart after heart attacks.

Dr Tanko appealed to the public to check their heart pressure regularly and noted that diabetes could cause heart attacks. He said exercising regularly or walking briskly for 30 minutes three times a week was good practice. He advised against the eating of heavy meals at late hours.

Evangelist George Kingsley Abugah, who heads the Help Ministry of the Church of Christ, said the ministry had been in existence for the past 20 years and had the aim of soliciting funds for the treatment of people who had heart problems.

He also said the ministry needed about GH¢40,000 to assist those who had heart problems and thanked all those who make regular contributions to assist needy patients.

Dr Kwadwo Appiadjei Tua, a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana, Legon, asked participants, most of whom were from other churches, to help spread the message of good health.
