Ablekuma North: Go and add 62 outstanding polling stations to 219 already collated - Court to EC
Sixty-two outstanding polling station results in the Ablekuma North Constituency are to be collated in addition to the 219 already collated results in the constituency, the High Court in Accra has ordered.
In a judgment Saturday, the Accra High Court presided over by Justice Forson Baah Agyapong was of the view that the EC’s inability to collate all the 281 polling station results before declaring the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Awurabena Aubynn the winner meant that the commission’s mandatory duty had not been performed.
As a result, the court held that the condition precedent for the grant of mandamus filed by the New Patriotic Party’s Nana Akua Afriyie had been met.
In addition to the orders, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has been ordered to provide adequate and armed security men to help the EC carry out its conditionally mandated exercise.
