Police and NDC agree on route for Voter Register protest

The Accra Regional Police Command and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have agreed on the route to take for the September 17 planned street protest on the voters register going to be used for the December 7, 2024 elections.

The NDC has called for an independent forensic audit of the register arguing that the party has seen unauthorised transfers in it but the Electoral Commission (EC) has declined that request.

Following that the NDC has planned to organise series of street protests across the country on September 17,

In a letter signed by the Deputy Accra Regional Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Emmanuel Aryee Akonnor, the police said the protest will start at 7:00 a.m. from the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, passing through Farisco traffic light, TUC, National Theatre, and will end at Parliament House. 

At Parliament House, a petition will be presented to the Speaker of Parliament. The protest will then proceed to the EC's office, where another petition will be delivered to the electoral body.
