Vote NDC to reset country - Prof. Opoku-Agyemang urges electorate

The running mate to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has urged the electorate to vote for the NDC to reset and save the country from the current hardship faced by the citizenry in the  2024 general election.

"It's time for change, and the NDC is ready to reset and save this country from the current hardship," she said.

"We need absolute support for our presidential and parliamentary candidates to ensure total victory for the NDC," she added.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said this when she addressed separate rallies in the Tarkwa Nsuaem, Ahanta West and Shama constituencies during her three-day campaign tour of the Western Region.

Tarkwa Nsuaem

At the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency, the NDC running mate bemoaned the lack of development in the area despite the ruling government's 24-year dominance, and highlighted the devastating effects of galamsey activities on the environment and water bodies.

“I therefore urge you to vote massively for both the flag bearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, and our parliamentary aspirant for Tarkwa Nsuaem, Issah Salifu Taylor,” she said.

Ahanta West

In the Ahanta West Constituency, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang interacted with fishermen, fish processors and traditional rulers, promising to address their concerns, including the deplorable road leading to the community and issues with premix fuel.

Shama

At Inchaban in the Shama Constituency, she dismissed claims that the NDC would cancel the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy, stating, "That notion is false. We will never cancel Free SHS, but rather make it better."

She said it was during her tenure in office as the Minister of Education when the NDC government under former President Mahama rolled out the progressive Free SHS policy with the construction of the E-Blocks.

She urged voters to reject lies and mudslinging in political campaigns, emphasising the need for decorum and unity of purpose to deliver the constituency to the NDC.

The NDC parliamentary aspirant for Shama, Emilia Arthur, pledged to continue serving the constituents' interests, while traditional leaders praised the NDC for being development-oriented and urged them to remember Shama when they win the elections.

Chiefs

The Chief of Funko in the Shama Constituency, Nana Ekow Nkane IV, made a passionate appeal to the NDC to consider the deplorable road leading to the community.

The other challenge, he said, was the issues with the premix fuel for the fishing community and urged her not to forget the people of Funko.

For her part, Prof. Opoku- Agyemang promised that NDC would address the issues and Funko would not be forgotten and urged them to turn out in the December 7 general election and vote massively for NDC’s flag bearer and parliamentary aspirant.

The Chief of Ohiamadwen, Nana Affo Kwaku, praised the NDC for being a development-oriented party and urged them to remember Shama when they win the elections.
