The Chief Executive of the assembly, Mr Samuel Oppong, disclosed that at the third ordinary meeting of the second session of the sixth assembly held at Agona Swedru.

According to Mr Oppong, they set up a temporary structure and building permit task  force in the second and last quarters of last year, and despite numerous challenge the task force encountered, they were able to collect that much.

He said as a result, the assembly desired to use part of the IGF to purchase a  vehicle  with a comprehensive insurance cover at a cost of GH¢61,717.54 to help enhance the work of the task force.

Mr Oppong used the meeting to commend the members of the task  force for the good work done, and urged them to continue to work harder to help collect more revenue for the assembly.

He also disclosed that the Ministry of Trade and Industry, in collaboration with the assembly and other investors, was considering the establishment of a large scale palm oil production facility in the assembly.

The MCE said preliminary engagements had been held with some farmers to set up out-grower centres, and hoped that the initiative, if fully realised, would go a long way to provide employment for the youth.

He appealed to the assembly members to continue to advise their electorates on the need to honour their tax obligations and also to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations pertaining to putting up buildings and other structures.—GNA
