Akufo-Addo urges Voltarians to ignore propaganda

The 2016 flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has asked the people of the Volta Region to ignore vicious propaganda against him and the NPP and join the movement for change in the country.

He said ethnic and tribal politics must be discarded to focus on building a better nation in the 21st Century, where knowledge and technology ruled the world.

Nana Akufo-Addo said this when he met media practitioners at Anloga at the start of a four-day tour of the southern part of the Volta Region last Thursday.

Engagements

He was expected to engage with chiefs and youth groups at Anloga, Ave-Dakpa, Akatsi, Aflao, Tadzewu , Adidome and Sogakope.

He said the ethnic colour had eroded in the Volta Region and that people were more prepared to listen to the messages of the party and that generated a lot of hope for it.

Nana Akufo-Addo said there were tremendous opportunities which could be harnessed with a combination of hard-working people and abundant resources, adding that the nation could develop faster with purposeful leadership.

Mini rally

At a mini-rally held earlier at the Anloga market, the NPP flag bearer appealed to the people to help him to come to power.

This, he assured them, would enable him to bring the economy back on track, adding that thousands of jobs would be created for the youth.

“I need your help”, he repeatedly stated.

He said he had no tribal agenda against any tribes in Ghana.

He introduced Mr Anthony Desewu  as the NPP parliamentary candidate for the Keta Constituency and Mr Edward Eddah, the parliamentary candidate for the Anlo Constituency, at the rally.

He had earlier held a closed door meeting with the Awoamefia, Togbe Sri III, and some divisional chiefs of the Anlo state.

Rousing welcome

A press statement from the party said the 2016 presidential candidate of the NPP received a rousing reception on his way to Anloga, at the commencement of his four-day tour of the Volta Region.

Described as a reception never witnessed or afforded any presidential candidate of the NPP in the Volta Region, Nana Akufo-Addo was met with chants of support for his candidature en route to the Keta Nursing and Midwifery College, and later to the palace of the Awoamefia, Togbui Sri III.

Popular NPP chants such as “Yere sesamu”;  “Aseéɛ hc”; “Nana oo Nana”; “Eshi rado rado”; and “We are moving forward”  greeted the NPP flag bearer and echoed along the principal streets of Anloga.

At the Keta Nursing and Midwifery College, the statement said, the NPP flag bearer was mobbed by students of the college. The college is located within the Keta Hospital, and the staff of the hospital exchanged pleasantries with the flag bearer.
