Amenfi Central MP unveils major infrastructure drive across health, education and security

The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has unveiled an expansive infrastructure programme aimed at reshaping communities across the constituency in the Western Region.

The agenda, which spans healthcare, education, security and local economic development, is being rolled out through a combination of new projects and the continuation of previously initiated ones. The MP says the focus is to expand access to essential services while stimulating economic activity in both urban and rural communities.

In the health sector, work is continuing on the Ankwaso CHPS Compound to improve primary healthcare delivery in the area. Construction is also ongoing on a CHPS compound at Sraha Ayiem, while new facilities are being developed at Ankasie, Jedua Kese, Adidaase and Hiawa. At Manso Amenfi, a maternity block with a theatre is under construction to enhance maternal and emergency care in the constituency.

The scale of the health infrastructure expansion is intended to reduce travel distances for residents seeking medical attention and to ease pressure on existing facilities. The projects are at various stages of completion between 2025 and 2026.

Security infrastructure is also being strengthened. Police stations are under construction at Sraha Ayiem and Achichire, funded through the MP’s allocation. The facilities are expected to improve police response times and reinforce law enforcement presence in growing communities.

Education forms another key pillar of the development drive. Ongoing projects include the continuation of Wuratrem DA Primary School and Ankasie DA Primary School, alongside the completion of a three-unit classroom block for the Junior High School at Sompre. New school buildings are being constructed at Kramokrom, where a six-unit primary school is underway, as well as at Ata ne Ata DA Primary and Takyikrom Sompre Junction DA KG.

Additional classroom infrastructure includes a three-unit block at Bantoma, a KG block at Agona Camp, and a new Islamic Junior High School at Bonsie. These projects are designed to address classroom shortages and improve the learning environment for pupils across the constituency.

On the economic front, the MP is overseeing the construction of a 24-hour economy market at Agona Amenfi and a new market at Juabo. The facilities are expected to provide modern trading spaces for market women, farmers and small-scale businesses, while supporting local commerce.

The projects are scheduled between 2025 and 2026 and reflect what the MP describes as a comprehensive plan to accelerate development in Amenfi Central.
