Essumejahene pledges support for Bawumia’s Presidential bid
The Omanhene of Essumeja, Odeneho Okyere Kusi Ntrama, has expressed support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his quest to become Ghana’s next President.
During Dr. Bawumia’s tour of the Ashanti Region on Monday, he visited the Bekwai Constituency to engage with traditional leaders, religious figures, and community stakeholders, outlining his policies and seeking their endorsement.

Addressing Dr. Bawumia, Odeneho Okyere Kusi Ntrama, who also serves as the Benkumhene of Asanteman affirmed his community’s backing.
“We know why you are here,” he said. “You are here to seek our support and solicit our votes. We will help, we will be with you, and we will make it possible. Dr., we are with you, and we are behind you.”
While pledging support, the Omanhene also called for reciprocity, encouraging Dr. Bawumia to prioritise the needs of his community if elected.
“If you take good care of us, we will also take good care of you,” he stated, outlining key development priorities, including improvements to inner roads, a specialised hospital, and a university for the Amansie area.
The Omanhene also highlighted the ongoing challenge of illegal mining, or galamsey, and urged Dr. Bawumia to involve traditional leaders in efforts to curb the practice.

In response, Dr. Bawumia expressed his appreciation to the chiefs and community stakeholders for their encouragement.
He assured the gathering that he remains committed to community development and pledged to address the concerns raised.
He emphasised his accountability to the people, noting that he would return to report on his stewardship if re-elected, which he described as a unique responsibility compared to his main opponent.
Dr. Bawumia’s campaign has been marked by a strong focus on local engagement, as he seeks to galvanise support for the December 2024 election.
